Lead. Never follow.
It’s the theme of our High School Senior Photography, because we recognize that High School Seniors are a very curious group. Many still want, and cling to, things familiar. The comforts of home. The way things have always been. Their anonymity within their respective crowd of friends at school. Commonplace.
Nothing wrong with that. There is, however, an element that want something different. As they grow into adulthood, they long for both freedom and responsibility. They look forward to the adventure of life. They want to distinguish themselves, to separate from the crowd. These are our clients.
Lead. Never follow.
It’s also a personal philosophy. We are trend-setters. I’m okay with that. Setting trends means that someone will follow, attempting to do what we do. But for me, it’s never about creating a new cloud of peers that do things “like me.” As an artist, I never attempt to do what someone else is doing, just better; Instead I strive to convey my own unique perspective. Distinction is the mark of any true artist. It is incumbent on any authentic artist to separate himself, herself. To speak with a clear and distinct voice. And so I constantly evolve, setting myself apart. Expressing my vision. Creating style. Setting trends.
Ultimately, I — and my clients, hear the call to simply…
Lead. Never follow.
